Profile Information:

Relationship Status:
In a Relationship
About Me:
Currently pursuing second career, taking pre-med; I'm a geologist/env scientist, writer, photographer, running coach, conservative and environmentalist (really, no contradiction there); I enjoy E. B. White, James Herriot, Gerald Durrell, Bugs Bunny, Bill Bryson, Sogyal Rinpoche, Pema Chodron... Enjoy running espec. marathon/triathalon, and humour of the absurd. Love any challenge; love having, and having being born with Alopecia Universalis; its made me who I am. Alopecia is an absolute blessing! Cardinal rule: never, ever think negatively of yourself for having alopecia; while we are none of us special, we are beautiful and unique, and must honor ourselves daily as befits our outer and inner beauty. The responsibility rests exclusively with ourselves and no other.
Do you have alopecia?

    Hi George
Welcome to alopecia world. You don't happen to live in Guelph, Ontario do you?? We have an awesome vet. program at our university, lots of running clubs and one of Canada's best recycling systems. Just curious?

Hi George! We're not really sure about when my Alopecia first started. I am hoping to contribute to a book that is being written by an AlopeciaWorld member and through my research a dialogue with my parents they've shed some more light on my situation. Apparently I had no hair at all until I was 2 or 2 1/2yrs old. No one had formerly diagnosed me with anything and my parents just waited it out. Much to their surprise my hair did finally start grow and it was bright red orange (no one rally has that colour in my family). I seemed ot have a normally head of hair until I was 8 and then patches started falling out, it went from AA, to AT then it came back about 90% then in my teens it all fell out and I've been silky smooth ever since! :-)

Yes I'm an out doorsy type of gal, but have to admit my stamina for long distances is pretty poor. I've been working on my cardio so who knows! I really can't imagine running on pavement - ouch, shin splints!!! Maybe cross country on soft ground would be more my speed.

And yes Porties Rock! Great for the hypoallergenic, low/no shedding features, perfect for allergy prone people like us!

Its great to "meet" you! Study hard!!!
