    Take care, Roger.
  • Josh and Kiah

So I was gonna write up that text about Kiahs and our families experiences with alopecia and just thought I would ask if there were any parameters (length etc) that you would prefer.

You like that picture of Charile and Kiah?

Thanks Julia. I really liked Louisville. The size of the city was perfect for me. I will get lost in Houston next year =)

What kind of book are you working with?
  • Shannon

hEY!!! I noticed you do not live to far from Nashville and I just wanted to stop by and tell you I am hosting a Links for Locks tournament here in the Nashville Area Friday Sept 19th and would love if you could make it!!! There are some people coming up from GA and down from KY !!! Would be awesome if you could come. It starts at 1:30 in the afternoon. Let me know if you would like some info. I am in need of golfers and maybe a few more sponsors ... if you have any connections or know of anyone who would like to play please let me know :) thanks

Hey girl! How's it going? I haven't heard from you in a while, everything cool? Are you still working on your book? My support group is going well and I found a job too!
  • Ashley

You know, I was talking to my parents after the conference, about the experience as a whole, and how i was so excited about getting to meet in person all the people I have befriended on here. You were the first alopecian I saw, and i was so excited to see someone!
But I also wanted you to know, i love your page, and the re-think beauty thing, because I said to my parents how I thought you were beautiful, and that you looked like you were made to be bald, that I thought you didn't need hair, because you looked so good bald. =) You're kids are beautiful, and so are you.

    Hi Julia,
No, I didn't self-publish. My publisher is Nightengale Press, and you can reach them at: publisher@nightengalepress.biz
    Talk to Valerie.
I think the best advice I can give you is to edit and re-edit! Have a professional editing service go through it. I did that, plus going through the book hundreds of times, and there are still some typos! But my publisher says that there are typos in every book; generally that can't be avoided.
Anyway, just make sure that your book flows and is as easy to read and as organized as possible.
Try to make sure your personality shines through, so the book is also compelling.
That would be great if you wanted to reference my book!
I had a TV appearance Monday and two book signings this week so I am exhausted! If you want to see my TV appearance, go to:

Hmm...about 4-5 months. It depends on how complex the layout is (mine is quite complex) changes, corrections, etc...
  • LeslieAnn Butler

You can also go to the Nightengale Press web site to find out more about them...just google it.

No! It's better to find a publisher if you can. They have all the distribution channels, gobs of information, lots of opportunities for awards, trade shows, etc.
My first book, "The Dream Road," was self-published. It's a beautiful book, but it would have received more exposure through a publisher.
Before you talk to Valerie, talk to Carol White -- she is fabulous and won an national award for marketing her book. She has been helping me. She probably will have some advice for you regarding publishing, too. She is dynamite. carolwhite522@comcast.net

Thanks for the picture! I love it! Well the shaving of the hawk was my own doing, even though it has thinned some. =( I needed a summer hairdo because I was getting hot with "all this hair" as i said, as if my mohawk was a lot. haha. So for now it's shaved so my head can breathe for a while. So who knows, maybe I'll grow it back out this winter when i could use "all that hair" to keep warm. hahahaha.
  • Roger

    Hi Julia.

It only just happened at the end of September -- we're planning on having our wedding sometime next year, but we haven't set a firm date yet. Probably this time of year (November or December) but we're still ironing out the details. Thanks!!
