I am a devoted mother of three precious babies. They are my world and keep me going nonstop. I have had all three stages of alopecia (areata, totalis, and universalis) since the age of 19. Right now, I am in the in-between stage of totalis and universalis because my body cannot make up its mind on what it wants to do. That is the frustrating part of having alopecia. To keep myself busy, I am the CEO of Couture Lace Crowns by passion, an accountant by trade, and I am in the process of learning how to make my own lace wig. I enjoy sharing my story with other people and helping them as well as myself achieve inner & outer beauty. Being positive and spiritual has helped me accept alopecia, allow it to run its course, and move forward in living the best life I can live.
Hi Nicole, I wanted to take this opportunity to welcome you to Alopecia World. I have been living with Alopecia Areata since 1991 and know full well the struggle it can be. I look forward to getting to know you. Cheryl, Co-founder

Hi Nicole, We knew what we wanted this site to be and it is quickly becoming what we envisioned. But to be honest I did not expect all positive feedback that we received. So we truly thank you for your encouragement and please, this is your community too. Let us know if you have any thoughts or ideas.
Your comment bought tears to my eyes and confirmation that we are doing what God intended us to do. In a way my entire alopecian existence is coming full circle and making sense to me - 17 years later. A lot of times we say why me? But we don't see all the picture. Now I find my self saying why me for a whole difference reason. I am somewhat of an introvert and alopecia has pushed me so far out of my comfort zone that sometimes I get scared ;). If someone had a told me that I would be the co-founder of a site for alopecian that is interactive, fun, resourceful and having such an impact on people lives I probably would not have believed them. Keep in touch Nicole xo.
Yeppers, i am in Arlington, not far from you at all. Your pics are beautiful by the way. I think there is 1-2 other folks on here in the NoVA area too - we should all do a lunch or something after the holiday rush is over! :)
Hi Nichole, you have a beautiful family as well (they are all too cute, I had to show my mom your page as well as share with her your post on prayer). Thank you for your comments. You hang in there and may God continue to guide your path.
Hi nicole! I LOVE my eyebrows after I got them done. I was soooo scared to do them, my hands were sweating. I was so scared I woudn't like them. But, I hated drawing them on all the time! Right after, I was freaking out. They were all scaby and dark. We were going to a party, but I stayed home, and made my husband go by himself, lol!! I was soooo upset! But about 6 days later, ALL the scabs were off, they lighted A LOT! AND I LOVE THEM!! The shape is better now than when I had hair!
As far as the lashes go. I was soooo irritated putting them on. I could not do it!! My girlfriend came over to put some on for me one day. And thats all it took was for someone to show me! Now I wear them everyday. They are sooo easy. It takes me 20 sec. to put them on. I actually reuse one set about 3 or 4 times! so its not that expensive! If I'm just staying at home, then of course I DON'T worry abot putting them on. But, I love those too!!
I'll post a new picture of me with the brows healed. That picture was the 1st day!
Hi Nicole, I am new to this site but it was nice to see someone like me with with the same issue. I too had a baby and my alopecia escalated. I just want to say you have beautiful children and india arie is right we are not our hair : )
Hi Nicole, Happy New Year to you and your family. How's everything going? Saw the pictures of your babies now, your baby is sooooooooo cute, God bless him. Hope to hear from you soon!
I understand what you mean about the site. It seems that there is alot of support here. I like that now I have a place to talk people who are in the same position that I am. I do realize that I have a beautiful family and thats what keeps me going on a day to day basis. Thanks for the chat!
I don't want to be too forward or personal but I thought I might ask about your hair it's so pretty but I wanted to know if it's a lace front. It looks like it is growing out of the scalp.. and since I am your complexion I thought I might ask as this is something that i have been checking on since I lost my hair, lashes, and eyebrows.... Not certain how to get e-mail address from the site....
I too thought about tattooing my eyebrows but since loosing all my hair is so new for me I'm trying not to make any rushed decisions that are permanent....I now take the eyebrow pencil and put it on my upper lids. The lady at the Mac counter said, "honey you get an eyeliner and line your lids." and this works well once I got liner that didn't run...
Hi Nicole you have beautiful children. I also have two children myself. I too get depressed sometimes but I often wonder, should I be feeling like this but instead be use to this considering ive had alopecia universalis since i was 2 yrs old. I don't even remember having hair and that makes me so angry sometimes. This is something i hate to accept but it is what it is. I agree with you there are worser health issues and that makes me feel better. I recently discovered lace wigs and can't wait to try one. I feel its gonna be the beginning of a new me.
