The Butterfly In Me

Profile Information

Relationship Status:
Engaged
About Me:
I am a devoted mother of three precious babies. They are my world and keep me going nonstop. I have had all three stages of alopecia (areata, totalis, and universalis) since the age of 19. Right now, I am in the in-between stage of totalis and universalis because my body cannot make up its mind on what it wants to do. That is the frustrating part of having alopecia. To keep myself busy, I am the CEO of Couture Lace Crowns by passion, an accountant by trade, and I am in the process of learning how to make my own lace wig. I enjoy sharing my story with other people and helping them as well as myself achieve inner & outer beauty. Being positive and spiritual has helped me accept alopecia, allow it to run its course, and move forward in living the best life I can live.
Do you have alopecia?
Alopecia totalis
Are you age 18 or older?
Yes - I am 18 or older

Alopecian GirlTalk | Weekend w/No Makeup...Milestone

Posted on April 29, 2013 at 7:25pm 0 Comments

Hi Couture Beauties! I am so excited to share with you what I did over the weekend that is like a major milestone in my Alopecia journey. I faced the world with NO MAKEUP...not one bit except my Vaseline Cocoa Butter Jelly for my lips. I was standing in my bathroom mirror staring at myself wondering & pondering if I wanted to put makeup on or not. I've been real excited about the growth of my eyebrows and being able to shape them...thanks to Simplicity Hair Oil. I've been applying this…

My nails

Posted on July 9, 2012 at 8:30am 27 Comments

My body is starting to go through changes once again where I am beginning to loose the hair again...like my eyelashes. Not worried about my legs, that will just save me more time in not having to shave...lol But what is bothering me more is how my nails are becoming severely affected to the point where it hurts because they are sore. I have noticed the change in my nails within the past two weeks where the nail bed has become weak and my nails are breaking at the meat. I was reading on one…

Thank you very much :) I find coloring the rest of my hair light blonde helps make the bald spots less noticeable on my extremely white head :)

Hi Nicole. Thanks for the add. You are a beautiful woman with adorable children. God bless you. I would like to talk to you about your lace fronts. I believe we can work together and support each others business. I have been looking for a place to get a custom lace front made. Inbox me your contact info when you get a chance. Peace and Blessings.

Hi, Thanks for the tips. I ordered a standard wig last time so I dont think I had the option of a different density. Ill keep that in mind for next time though. It probably takes some trial an error to find one that really works for you and then playing with the styling. I've only worn synthetic so this is new for me, but wanted to find a more natural look. But as I can see from your pics it is achievable :)

Hi Nicole,

Thank you for adding me :) I was taking a look at your pictures and your blog and your hair looks wonderful. Wondering where you get your lace fronts from? Do you make them? I have recently purchased my first human lace front and still struggling a bit with making the hair line look natural. It's a lot of work styling real hair! I think Im going to blow dry and straight iron the front and make a part. Any tips you can pass along would be great. Hope you're having a good day!

Nicole: You should definitely come by. It is an amazing experience, and such a great opportunity to meet others should you feel that's something you'd like to do.

When you e-mail me, I'll give you my cell # and you can call/text me if you choose to come in. I have a great bunch of friends I've met over the years, and we'd love to have you visit with us.

We can communicate through alopecia world if you'd like, or I can give you a call. I'm hoping to set up skype here at home, but living in the country has some downsides with the slow internet. You can e-mail it to me through my personal e-mail alopeciaoutlook@gmail.com.

How far are you from the conference this year? If you're close, you don't have to sign up for the conference to come and meet people. Have you been to one before?

I have a couple friends who use acrylic nails to cover them up, or depending on how bad they are - polish them. I know others have the same issue, and hope you get a response soon.

Nicole: I'd love to hear your story. I see you are in Virginia. Will you be at the conference next week? Either way, your story has already piqued my interest. I look forward to talking to you.
