Profile Information:

Relationship Status:
Married
About Me:
I am here to connect with others who are affected with alopecia. I credit this site in helping me to become less self conscious when I go out bald in public.

I wish that there was a group where I could personally interact with other alopecians. But it's nice to be here in AW to talk with people who are winning over the uncertainty and unpredictable nature of alopecia.
Peace and Love to All!
Do you have alopecia?
Alopecia totalis
Are you age 18 or older?
Yes - I am 18 or older

I see that you said your brows are thinning and I would check out
    Talika Eyebrow Lipocils http://www.talika.com/product-eyebrow-lipocils-en.html
Revitalash might work but I have not consistenly tried to know, but it made my lashes grow back *happy* ( It is rather pricey but lasts for 6 months). Also I have done steroid shots (every 6 weeks) in my thinning brows once too, and it really seemed to help. Hope this helps, -francie

Thanks for the love and energy you send out to all of us. The discussions with women like you on AW have been of immeasurable help to me. It's really a day-by-day process, isn't it? I wish we were all in closer geographic proximity so we could meet in person. Maybe someday we'll have a "convention" of our own for women who are proudly bald. Best wishes, and love,
    Mary

Thank you, Galena. You just made my day!

Galena, thanks for the comment. I agree, some day it will be unnecessary to conceal our baldness because a bald woman will not be considered an oddity.
And there will still be women who want to, and be supported in, wearing some form of cover up or hair. So it will be the best of both worlds!
    Blessings and love, LeslieAnn

LOL. You are too kind! Although my bf says that I should try out for Britain's Next Top Model instead since I am in the UK haha. Thank you so much for the beautiful comment. How are things over where you are at? Salxx

Hello there! Thanks for dropping by to say hi. I am doing well thanks. Summer is here but unfortunately it's been quite chilly and it has been raining for the past few days. English weather is horrible! I was so looking forward to wearing my new summer shorts! lol The pics for my new theme is taken at my mum's shop in Brunei. It was during the soft opening of a new branch. Glad you like 'em! I purposely picked those songs because they are all about not giving up hope and to live the life we deserve! :)
  • Mary

Thanks, Galena! It was a great night, and being bald felt fine.

Thanks so much for the birthday wishes Galena!!! I spent my birthday recovering from some minor knee surgery (see boldlybaldwomen.blogspot.com - The Bald Pain blurb).
  • Mary

The performance in LA went really well! And, there was no question about being bald...I will be posing a photo shortly. No one even asked me if I have cancer! So, I'm "out" in LA now, too.
  • Mary

Thanks, Galena! I like the blue dress, too...but it's a little short for comfortable use. Great for posing on a beach, though!

    Hi there :-)

If you are handy with a sewing machine you can make good scarves for much less than you can purchase them. It's rare to find a bolt of fabric over 60", but if you keep your eye out you can get nice fabrics for dirt cheap. Then purchase 1 2/3 yards of a 60" fabric and you have no waste whatsoever. Do a rolled hem around the edge and voila! Maybe I'll make a video about it, but my machine needs a bit of TLC before I use it again.

Thanks for the Galena. I'm also trying to learn self acceptance.. Hope all is good

Thanks Galena. I am getting close to at least cutting what's left very short, if not shaving. I wear wigs daily, so what's the point? I have days where I am nearing acceptance (like today), and some where I am still very angry and sad. I had beautiful hair that always received compliments; this is a hard reality. I am thankful to know so many others with this issue. I wish I knew more in my area (Atlanta). I would like to be in a support group - maybe I will start one!
  • Gail

That's great! I will try to post something on here to drum up a few interested parties. If even just to meet for coffee or a drink once a month, it would be nice.
  • Gail

I have to believe there's more out there than just one. I wear wigs 100% of the time when I'm out in public, so maybe that's why you didn't "see" any.
It is very cold, and we did not get the snow they were forecasting. It would have made the cold a little more bearable!
I am having a particularly hard night. Just broke down and cried and cried until I wore myself out. It's not all about the hair (I have lots of negatives in my life right now), but I took a look at myself in the mirror and that started it. Looking for strength and sometimes I just can't find it....
Don't let me bring you down! You seem a lot better about this than I am. Let's keep in touch...
  • Sam Sam

Love the pictures... you look great!!!!!!!!!
  • Rick Seymour

That was very nice Galena. I do not think I have seen "anything" printed on here that was unkind. That right there just amazes the heck out of me considering how our society acts. God bless
  • NORMAN ABBOTT

WHEN I LOOK AT YOUR PHOTOS, I SEE PAIN IN YOUR EYES. I HATE TOO LOOK AT YOU BECAUSE I SEE MYSELF.... LUV NORMAN
  • Cheryl, Co-founder

No I didn't see it. Now I am curious and want to google it and see what I can find. Thanks for the compliments Galena.
  • Mary

Big hugs back to you, dear Galena! I hope you have a good time at the party. I made my bald debut among 200+ people at the music and dance camp, many of whom I've known for many years, but who didn't know about my hair loss. Not a problem. Happy International Alopecia Day to all.

    love,
    Mary

I would love to be able to find lashes that I could wear. Where do you get yours? They're beautiful!
  • Brenda

The only ones I have tried are ones I picked up from the local drug store. They were impossible for me to get on. Thanks for the response. You really do look beautiful.
