About Me:
I have been living with Alopecial universalus, on and off since the age of 14.
I had complete hairgrowth, (well, almost) for 12 years, when 6 years ago, it re-struck. I am completely without hair (including body hair) for 5 years now.
Not doing any treatments at the moment. Doctors in Greece refused to treat me with cortizone injections, which had worked in the past. Oral cortizone did nothing this last time. Trying to come to terms with the fact, that I will never again have hair.

    Well thank you and I think you look great but we are our worst enemy.. It sounds like I am more lucky living here in the states with more options, but I will say I have been having my wigs sent to me for years from another state and they are the same ones due to everyone that I try close by they are very rude...So with that said if you can ever make it here I will let you know who I go through.. I tried human and it didnt work for me..but this was when I didnt know anything.. did you say London? My sister lives in Scotland maybe we can meet? .. ha ha well that is a bit of a commute* for me..     No, that's not my baby, I'm the best "aunt" there ever was! I have to admit that I've held off on having kids - for fear of knowingly passing along my AU to my offspring.

    By the way, during a period of slight remission in my mid teens I too had cortizone injections on my scalp and it did not work for me at all. I wouldn't try it again if you paid me - too many potential side effects :-D

    I had alopecia universalis for 20 years, moved to california and all my hair is coming in like crazy and thick, and I can yank it and none comes out, I am 51 and gave up hope of it ever returning, after several doctors said my age was against me ever regaining it. They were wrong. NEVER give up hope. You are beautiful! : )

    Hi Nektaria. My daughter also has AU and we are trying a treatment called SADBE. This too struck her at around your age...she is 14 now. I know of a girl in Athens that did this treatment and it worked for her. We are also Greek...I have many relatives in Athens!

    Hi! Thanks for responding back so quick! I don't know the doctor in Athens, as this treatment was done many years ago. The girl is now a grown woman and never had a relapse. My pithida knows the family and called them once she found out she had undergone the same treatment as my daughter. Also, there is another woman on here that has had it done when she was younger and it too worked out well for her.

    I have heard wonderful things of this treatment. It is kind of like DCP...but this is called Squaric Acid (SDBE). You should start calling some dermatologists in your area and see if they have heard of this treatment. It is an old treatment, but with a high percentage of success.

    I hope to communicate with you more. It is soooo cool that we can communicate like this from different countries!!!

    Hi Nektaria,
    Thanks for all the info about fake eyelashes - maybe I will give them a try again. Last time I tried it I could not get them to stay on at all! I got my eyeliner tatooed on and love it - but I still really miss having eyelashes.

    I also had my eyebrows tatooed a light brown but they did not last. I've been drawing them on every day. I am getting better at it :)
