I started losing my hair when I was around 30 or so, and its slowly gotten worse. I thought it was from medications I am on, but a dermatologist I went to said it was alopecia areata. I am struggling with self-esteem issues, but my emotions get the best of me sometimes (those shampoo commercials make me cry and get angry at the same time!) I'm only human, and I'm trying the best I can. I am glad to have found this website and I look forward to communicating and learning more.
Hello and welcome, Jenn!
I know how hard hair loss can be; I have had it for about 30 years. After I became the spokesperson for the National Alopecia Areata Foundation, a lot of women were needing my help and support, so I wrote a book called, "If Your Hair Falls Out, Keep Dancing!" You can find out more on my page -- and it's available on this site under "Bookshelf." Let me know if there's anything else I can do!

Hi Jenn! So I just got back from my vacation in Florida, and it was a lot of fun to see my boyfriend and friend, but unfortunately it was raining the whole time we were there :( One of the nights my friend took us to a winery in Plant City that makes their own wine and it was delicious! Then we went out for sushi in Ybor and walked around there for awhile- it had a really cool atmosphere- very nice. I couldn't believe how hot it was though, and my friend who lives there started laughing and said "This is nothing. Wait until summer, then it's really hot." Me, being from cold Wisconsin, is certainly not used to that heat hahaha- but it was nice to take a vacation. Very impressive city!
I FINALLY found a job in Washington, DC, so I will be moving out there next week- I am soooo excited! I have been job searching for months, and now that I am finally graduated, the pressure was really on to find one. I was starting to worry, but now I feel much better- *whew!* How are things in Florida for you? How is your wig going? I am getting my vacuum wig in a few weeks yippee! Hope that all is well :) Talk to you soon.
