I have had Alopecia since I was a teenager in the 60's. Being a preacher daughter, my family believe I had sin to get this DIS-EASE. Later when going off to college in 1979 we learned as a family that it was Alopecia. What a relief to have a name. I still was not comfortable till I begin to do theater in 1989. The stage allowed me to be free without hair. Then I learn how beautiful I was with or without my wig. Now at 52 I continue to use my story to heal myself and others who think our value is based on our outside appearance.
