I am in my late 20's. I have been loosing my hair for about 10 years. It is getting so bad, and I have scalp showing all over. I no longer feel attractive, and I stray away from going out. I even get embarrassed when I see people that I haven't seen for awhile because I am afraid that that is all they see. I don't even want to date because of this issue. I am afraid to but a wig because of embarasment.

My hair was falling out before my husband and I got married. I was so distraught over it. He told me "I love you, not your hair." We have been married now for 11 yrs and I knew then he was a keeper. You need only keep the company of good men and you'll not have anything to worry about. If the guy isn't a terrific, down to earth, honest good guy, then he might care about your hair loss and you wouldn't want to be stuck with someone like that regardless. Take if from me, I have lived and learned!
The biggest bit of advice I can give you is, Don't make it worse than it is. Check out the nice wig styles online and find yourself something you really love and take the plunge. You will be surprised how many people will not even know it's a wig and the people who do will love it. I wouldn't give up my wigs if my natural hair came back. I buy all synthetic so they are wash in cold water and hang inside out to dry and shake and go in the morning. So much easier than my own hair ever was. Believe me, wigs are fun. I'm a nurse. I work full time and deal with everybody. Wigs are a blessing. Wasting time trying to fix your own hair is not a blessing. It's a curse. Atleast for me it was.
Coleen, don't worry if you end up getting a wig. Believe me I needed one a long time before I got one. After I go one i became hooked and am a complete wig addict. I love the different styles and colors and they make so many natural styles now days. Most people compliment my hair and wouldn't have even know they were wigs but be the honest person I am, I told. As long as you're ok with it, everyone else will be too. Everybody has a problem of some sort. Your's just happens to be non life threatening and easily fixed with the use of Noriko, raquel, rene of paris, amore, or any of the other good lines. They aren't too expensive and worth every penny. like I said I would have had on yrs before if I wasn't so hung up about it. No one else is. If you're happy they are happy for you. Atleast that's been my experience. If they're not, they aren't the kind of people u should be around anyway.
Hi Colleen,
I'm 29 and from Fort Wayne, too, so if you need a friend who knows what you're going through, please feel free to message me some time and we can get together.
The store that I purchase my wigs from is located in the heart of Castleton. The store is called Beauty 4 you, and it's only been opened a short time. It's off of 82nd Street in the shopping plaza across from Burlington Coat Factory.
If you want anyone to go with you, I'd be more than happy to. I work in the office park across the street from there.
Hi, I understand completely. I developed AA in May of this year and it was a complete shock. One day I had a full head of hair and the next I had a bald spot the size of a baseball. It was frightening and embarrassing. My brothers would tell me it didn't look too bad and I'd say "have you ever talked to someone when you have a big zit on your forehead" "you think that's all anyone would see" "try having a bald spot the size of a baseball and see how you feel". Then I discovered wigs. At first it was scary, the thought that everyone would know. People surprise you though and can be very supportive. One day I woke up and decided I was tired of hiding my problem. It was taking me over an hour to hide the spots, and I was tired. I wanted some more sleep. So, I bit the bullet and wore my wig to work. Everyone loved it. Go for it. you should enjoy life. Hair isn't everything. I was just sick of getting sicker taking medicines. I'd rather have my health than hair. If you're ever in Indy, I'd be happy to take you to my wig shop and help you find something that makes you feel good about yourself - and forget your troubles. Once you do, you'll have a ball. Take it from someone who knows.
Hello and welcome, Collen!
How are you doing today? I understand about dating. I'm single too, am completely bald and wear wigs all the time, and of course have to tell men eventually that I am bald! But now that I wrote a book about it, they usually know anyway.
