Hey all! I am new to this site but no stranger to Alopecia. I have had AA for about 17 or so years. It started as a small, quarter sized patch on the back of my head. My mom took me to the…Continue
I would recommend NOT getting a wig that is a combination of synthetic and human hair. They both need different kinds of care, and they wear differently. Synthetic fibers can begin to frizz from heat and friction within 3-6 months of regular wear. That means you will have a wig that has some frizzy strands and some normal hair strands. Unless the synthetic fibers are heat tolerant, you will not be able to use your curling iron or blow dry the hair. If you have checked all this out and are satisfied, tell the store owner that you found out you can get it online for less, and see if she will lower her price. As far as how to secure the wig, you can find out all sorts of stuff about wig care and related info in my book, or start a discussion group on this site. Let me know how it goes!
I have a wardrobe of synthetic and human hair wigs. My synthetics are Brandi by Rene of Paris (very nice quality) in Butterscotch which I get at www.wigsalon.com . My human hair wigs are full lace virgin European hair from Brenda Kay Hair Specialities. She works with women all over the country including Hollywood types. Her costs are VERY competitive and she guarantees satisfaction. I've been working with her for about 15 years.
