For long as I remember, I started losing hair at the age of 10-12, and my hair started to thin at 13 years onwards.
Later in life, I was diagnosed with female pattern hair loss at the age of 16.
It is hard living with thin yet wide parted hair. Especially at a such young age.
I come from a country with men and women having luscious and thick hair. It is a pride and a representation. It is ironic that despite coming from that background and having family members old or young with such beautiful hair, it ruins you. It messes you up.
People come around and by feeling sorrow for your condition, pick-pointing the wide part and the thin hair. It hurts. They always initiate remedies, medications, overlooking the pain and suffering.
School is hard. Not wanting to go to school. Looking at the hair, thinking to just shave it all. It hurts.
Seeing girls at your age with beautiful, thick hair, able to braid their hair.
But then I like my hair in its own way. Yes it is thin. But it is healthy, shiny and beautiful, in its own twisted way.
