I was losing my hair back in 2006 when my youngest went away to college. Four months later my son was in a serious car accident and could have died. He was hospitalized for 70 days. Five months later I find out my middle child was pregnant. She was a senior away at college. Thank goodness she graduated may 10 and later had the baby may 23. That was the stress I went through just with my children. Work was fine. It was just too much.

Let me know how you like the book!
I wear both synthetics and human hair. The one in this picture is virgin European hair custom made for me.
It is six years old and is still perfect! I have three of these. I get mine from Brenda Kay Hair Specialties and they are really affordable -- lots less than places like Folica. She's here in Portland but works with women all over the country. Her web site is www.bkhair.com.
The synthetics I wear are from Rene of Paris; I like their quality. The one I am wearing in some of the photos on my page are "Brandi" and I have cut bangs and trimmed the ends about 2". Yes, the synthetics get frizzy, but you can fix this. Just use a fabric steamer and a metal toothed brush or comb. Comb through the hair with the steamer close to the frizz. It will straighten it out and you will get longer wear. If the curl comes out, you can use heated rollers (I use Caruso, the steam rollers).
I've had AU for about 25 years! Actually, except for the eyelashes, it's better than having all those icky spots. I mean, the worst has happened! Believe me, Fran, I understand how rough it can be. While researching my book, "If Your Hair Falls Out, Keep Dancing!" I heard all sorts of stories from women like you and me. Some that would make your hair stand on end, so to speak! You might find it interesting -- it's a fun read (we gotta laugh sometimes) as well as really informative (you can find it on www.Amazon.com).
Meanwhile, I am here if you need to talk, want to complain, get support, or ask for advice.
Hugs!
