I am a 22 year old nursing student at Jefferson University. My one and only wonderful older sister has Alopecia. While she will probably never lose all the hair on her body, the hair on her scalp has been falling out for years. For a long time I was blind to the pain my sister was suffering, and didn't know how depressed she was until it was nearly too late. She has begun to wear a hair piece, and it has changed her world, but she still has a long journey to go on happiness and acceptance. I love my sister dearly and I want to better understand her struggle and pain in dealing with this condition.

Hello and welcome, Holly,
You are wonderful to be so supportive of your sister.
I know how hard alopecia can be; I have had it for about 30 years. Let me know if I can help. One thing that you might be interested in is my book, written for women, called "If Your Hair Falls Out, Keep Dancing!" (It just won two national awards!) It has helped a lot of women; there is lot of good info in it, it can answer many questions, and it's a fun read, too.It might be a good thing for both you and your sister. You can find out more on my page. It's available on Amazon.com. Let me know if there's anything else I can do! I am here to help.
