I am 20 years old and have been suffering from alopecia since I was a toddler. I had experienced some patches over the years, but nothing too noticeable. It was in my senior year of high school that i began to lose most of my hair over a period of 6 months. I chose not to shave my head because of the loss of my eyebrows and eyelashes. My conditions was not generally known amongst my peers and so I believe many to be very confused. Entering University I wore a wig so that I could build the confidence and not let my hair loss interfere with my new stage in life. Over the years I had tried many methods of rejuvenating hair growth, which included mostly naturalistic remedies, but to no avail I ceased from visiting doctors. At this point I am using a doctor prescribed ointment and with a lot of exercise and good eating I have seen much hair growth over the last year. Limiting my stress and finding outlets for my frustration is what I believe to be the remedy for my drastic hair loss. Of course my closest friends know about my condition, but when it comes to meeting new people, I leave the issue of my hair almost non-existent. I do have faith that my hair will come back in time, but for now I am familiarizing myself with the condition and slowly growing the confidence so that potentially I can interact with people without wearing a wig.
