About Me:
I was diagnosed when i was 18. I am tired of this disease and feel alone. I have been feeling bad about nu self image and decided to try to find other people like myself that i could relate to and hopefully get some peace of mind. I know i am blessed in that i dont get it as bad as some but for me losing any hair is really depressing, as is the monthly injections. I am basically looking to find people with my condition for some support and understanding.
Do you have alopecia?
Alopecia areata
Are you age 18 or older?
Yes - I am 18 or older

Hi Jen, my new friend from Dundalk! I hope this site is helping you realize how unalone you are. Looks like you are surrounded by wonderful family and friends. One thing I've noticed is that not one of my dear friends or family members is the least bit put off, nor love me any less due my alopecia. I'm also fairly new to this, but every day I realize more and more that as traumatic as this condition may sometimes seem, there is no reason to allow it to diminish the important people and joys of our lives. Keep Smiling!

Hello and welcome, Jen!
I know how hard alopecia can be; I have had it for about 30 years. After I became the spokesperson for the National Alopecia Areata Foundation, a lot of women were needing my help and support, so I wrote a book called, "If Your Hair Falls Out, Keep Dancing!" You can find out more on my page -- and it's available on this site under "Bookshelf." Let me know if there's anything else I can do!

Hi neighbor!

Welcome to AW.

I know Dundalk well. I have a very good friend who lives in Essex. We used to always go out in the boat from Sue Creek off of Hollyneck and boat all around the area! And check out all the places to eat around the water.

I understand your struggle- I've been dealing with AA too. I go back and forth with the injections and steroid foam. They do seem to help re-grow the hair- but doesn't do a thing to stop new ones from coming.

In this past year I staring going to a new dermatologist in Towson/Hunt Valley area who I really love. Although I am not sure any of them can offer much difference in treatment.

you are not alone!
