About Me
I've survived Ovarian Cancer and as a result of the chemotherapy I am completely bald. It started growing back in patches and then gave up and all fell out, including the eyelashes and eyebrows that had grown back in. I am striving to find acceptance of my new reality but have had some very frustrating and depressing moments.
How to find a natual looking & feeling wig and ways to keep the eyebrows and eyeliner that I put on to stay. Little things like this have proven to be a continual challenge.
I'm so thankful to have made it through the chemo and am blessed by not having any further signs of the cancer but I selfishly want my hair back. The doctors all said that it should grow back. The cancer was awful but not having hair seems so much more permanent.
Do you have alopecia? (Choose appropriately)

OH GOODIE! I'm so glad you (and your daughter) had a great experience! Now you can see why I won't bother going to anyone else but Brenda Kay! Yes, let's be sure to meet up when you come back. And I hope you will post pix of your new wig!
Hugs!!

Hi Judy!
That is great that you're seeing Brenda Kay!
I wish so much I could meet you up here -- I would just love that! Unfortunately, I won't be available at all that day. Bummer!
Let me know if you will be coming in again, okay?

I agree Judy the loss of your hair is devastating and not something that those who have never experienced will ever understand I watched pat suffer through her loss and it as heart breaking. Pat has had alopecia for 20 years and we accept it as part of our lives and we have been able to both learn just how much we love each other because of it. We still hate this disease and would pay anything to cure it. This site has helped us both so much and I am sure it will comfort you as well. Your not selfish to want your hair back you are grieving your loss as we grieve its an emotional response that helps us to heal.

Hi Judy!
Hey, I'm so glad you enjoyed my book! I know, I feel so fortunate that I found BK. And to answer your question, yes I'm sure she can show you wigs -- or make one for you -- that you can wear up in a ponytail or knot. I have seen them on display in her salon. When I pull back my hair, I usually wear a low ponytail, not a high one -- but if I taped the back and pulled out wisps, it would look relatively natural. Have you asked her about it? 503-223-8092 or email bkswildhair@comcast.net. She's on this site, too: http://www.alopeciaworld.com/profile/BrendaKay273

My advice is, after 30 years of wig wearing, that you can't make a mistake with Brenda. She guarantees satisfaction, and will continue with support and services -- not sure how many other wig people will have those benefits.

If you decide to come up to Portland, I'd love to meet you...

Hi Judy, I have a topper from www.russianhair.net . It's a silk top mono with one inch poly around. I have it for a little over a year now and it still looks the same as when it was delivered. Virgin russian hair is unbelievable. I thought it will cost me a fortune for a real thing but it didn't. My neighbor wears full lace wig from the same company and she is as happy as i am. This is 100% natural hair so I use regular shampoo and conditioner, nothing fancy. If you can, wash it on head bulk, spay it and rinse. I think www.russianhair.net have care instructions somewhere on their website. Good luck! CarlaDelete Comment
