I'm 36 yrs old & live in Atlanta. I've struggled with alopecia for about 6 years now. It has gotten to the point now however where I can no longer hide it and have to wear wigs all the time. I've stopped wearing my hair in destructive hair styles but my alopecia only continues to get worse. I know the quality of my hair has changed with age and the 50% left on my head is extremely dry and thin. Not sure if I have an underlining condition. I'm hoping being a part of this community will help me to gain back the confidence I once had and through doing that inspire others to also persevere & conquer the world. Most importantly I'm hoping to make friends with others who can relate, where we can be a support system to each other. They say birds of the same feather flock together. Well I guess in our case LACK OF THOSE FEATHERS! :)
I am so sorry you are having a tough time. I just want to reassure you that a boyfriend who cares only about your hair isn't worth having. I've been bald for 40 years and yes, it separates the men from the boys -- but you want a man, not a boy. The right guy will love you no matter what is going on with your hair. Same goes for other people.
