Menopause before 40 and at 43 my hairline started receding, thought it was low thyroid for which I am treated but found out it was frontal alopecia. It is difficult for me because I had long hair and loved wearing it in a pony tail. I use Minoxdyl to stop it from getting worse, some hairs have grown back but it is still noticeable so I wear side bangs. There was a period in which I had lost my eyebrow hair but now my once thick eyebrows are thin but at least I have hair on them with a few small patches missing. I never grew hair under my arms which was a bonus but I gladly have hairy armpits if I could just have my hair on my front and sides grow back!
Do you have alopecia?

Are you age 18 or older?

Welcome to the group! Imagine another FFA diagnosis here in the Chicago area! I was diagnosed 2 years ago in November. . . I was initially paralyzed with fear and could not think of anything else. I've been trying to put into perspective and I'll admit it is difficult at times. I was part of the support group on Alopecia World at the very beginning. . . I think there were 9 of us. I find it to be a great resource but have not been sharing very much on the site recently. I see Dr. Barbosa at Millennium Dermtology downtown. She is active in CARF and a good source of information. Difficult to know how this thing gets started, but I'm thinking there are more instances than many think. I still have some inflammation on top but can mask the loss fairly well right now. Take care—let me know if you have any questions.
