I have suffered with a condition called Folliculitis Decalvans which has led to alopecia for the last 14 years. My condition is linked very strongly with stress and due to the job area I work in, it has worsened significantly over the last four years. I decided in April 2009 to get a wig which was the best decision I ever made! My hairdresser is amazing and I feel completely comfortable with him. I've just lost my dad - my hero - to cancer so have begun to realise that it's not worth worrying whether my hair will come back or not as life is too short. My family (especially my dad who came to every wig fitting with me!) and friends are amazingly supportive and I couldn't have learned to accept my condition without them.

Other type of alopecia
Are you age 18 or older?

Hi welcome noticed you are from the london area, I am also thinking of shaving my head and looking into a taped/bonded wig, may I ask what type of wig you are getting? Any help would be appreciated.

Hello and welcome, Laura!
I know how hard it can be. I have had alopecia for about 30 years. After I became the spokesperson for the National Alopecia Areata Foundation, a lot of women were needing my help and support, so I wrote a book called, "If Your Hair Falls Out, Keep Dancing!" It might make you feel better. You can find out more on my page -- and let me know if there's anything else I can do!
