Hi Leah,
I currently wear a vacuum wig. I really love it. It's a true custom fit. I used to wear the cheap wefted lace wigs, which are fine, but started to irritate my scalp a lot. I chose to go for a vacuum wig because I wanted something that would be comfortable, secure, and natural looking. You asked me about the 'other' vacuum wig company. I don't know who they are. All I know is that they are from Florida. I go through Peggy Knight Solutions for my wigs. I should be getting my new wig by the first of the year. I will let you know what I think about it when I get it. Right now I am wearing the Freedom vacuum wig.

i know sweetie...i know how bad it all is.
i know the isolation & pain all too well.
it doesn't get better with time.
we only learn how to adapt & adjust.
if that's any consolation.......................
i cannot tell you, not to be sad.
cause i know the road all too well
If you feel comfortable wearing wigs..go for it!
I cannot due to the pain & eczema
from wearing the synthetic
lace or prosthetic wig.
yet when the weather is cooler
you will see me in my new prosthetic freedom wig!
listen to the "BEAT OF YOUR OWN HEART"
walk to the "BEAT OF YOUR YOUR OWN DRUM"
Take care Leah...can you put up a pic?
Please...I so much wish to see you.
You are safe here!
if you meet anyone who makes you feel uncomfortable
just block them....okay.
you never have to share details
Take care

Hi Leah,
Thanks for the note! No, I don't have a freedom wig. I really don't need one -- I have some nice custom ones that fit well and don't come off. They are European hair and just beautiful. I get them made for me by Brenda Kay Hair Specialties here in Portland -- cost about $1500. I also have some synthetics for when I work out or am just running around, and I get Rene of Paris "Brandi" and cut bangs and length.
I agree with the person who told you it's okay to want to look like you did before you lost your hair. I don't know why some people like to make you feel guilty for wanting to wear wigs. It's a choice, just like wearing makeup or not. I say, do what makes you feel the most comfortable. And BIG HUGS!

yes....It's got a natural scalp appearance.
No I haven't worn a lace wig, because I cannot have any glue on my skin.
I cannot even wear synthetic wigs, or scarves.
i CAN'T TAKE THE FEELING OF SOMETHING ON MY HEAD.
This is why I think the Vacume Wig, freedomwig, suction wig, especially in the cool climate is the next best thing to skin.
It wont slip off if you aren't sweating.
You can swim in it...yet it's not good, because chlorine can destroy your $$$$ dollar wig.
You have to treat it with special care.
Once you fit it on & put it in place...you can hardly feel it on.
It is designed to fit about a half an inch above your ears, & it is made along the scull, not the neck.
It does not reach anywhere near the spine. So you can move freely & so comfortably.
Look through my photos...I think there might be a picture of where the line is drawn.
I will check & see if it's there.I know I put a picture of the prosess on someones blog.
All the best!

I have Alopecia Areata now!
I did have Alopecia Totalis as you can see on my video.
"MAD MAX BEYOND THUNDERDOME"
With Tina Turner & Mel Gibson
Do you have any photos of yourself.
I go bald..that's the best way for me!
Not to feel as though i'm conforming to others wishes, discomfort, insecurity having to look at me.
For me, it's "WHAT YOU SEE...IS WHAT YOU GET"
TAKE IT OR LEAVE IT!
I won't bow down to opinion, judgment or perception.
Oh...i got my freedom wig prosthesis...silicone base.
The next best thing to skin!
Come winter..you are going to love it.
Although in the heat, for me it is impossible to wear.
Yet the cold is Great!
So it can take a while to get made.
Don't know if you will have it ready for the winter.
So check on the freedom wigs..they are real hair.
Not cheap...yet beautiful & comfortable in the cooler weather.
Maybe if you start now>>>>>
For me...if & when I wear anything...that's it for me!
My Freedom Wig suctions on so tight.
You will have to shave off the little hair you have to get your head scanned with a laser.
I even have a picture somewhere with the process.
Also you have to keep your head totally bald to wear the wig.
GREAT FOR ALOPECIA UNIVERSALIS/TOTALIS........
Good luck!
Nice Meeting You Leah.......
