My name is Liz and I live in Athlone, Ireland I recently founded a website to support people with Alopecia and their friends and family because in 1998 I started getting small round bald patches all over my head I received various amounts of different treatments but to no avail. In January 2000 all my hair finally fell out, by March 2000 I had no body hair left.
I have a strong personality and I truly believe that because of this I am able to cope dealing with Alopecia. In the last three years I have started wearing wigs and now even find it fun changing hairstyles, although I can empathize with anyone who find's it difficult to deal with this condition.
The one thing I could not handle was having anyone to talk to face to face and I have found no support services at all.
Now I talk to people with Alopecia online and face to face, and successfully run two support Groups in Ireland soon to become three in January 2009.
