- I have been living with alopecia areata since the age of 23. I was devastated and for many years could not cope with it. i tried everything from rogaine to experimental uv treatments conducted at a hospital. Finally I realized that I would have to use wigs to hide my problem. I learned to live like this. I eventually got married and have two sons. I realized that having alopecia did not keep me from living a normal life.
