- I am a social worker in Indianapolis. I've had AA for 17 years and just recently shaved my head due to having a "wave" of more severe loss. It's not coming back as quickly as it has before when I've lost nearly all of it on my head. My derm has recommended to stop all steroid treatment because I've been on them for so long and the risks outweigh the benefits. So though I felt I had coped with my AA diagnosis, I found myself needing support again at the prospect of not knowing if my hair will come back. So here I am.
