You do ook great in your wigs though and I loved your mink coat photo! Take care, hang in there, and you will once again get through this roller coaster.....

Hi Ria! I definitely recommend permanent eyebrow tattoos; they look fantastic and save me so much time every day! It's nice not having to worry about my eyebrow pencil rubbing off anymore! I was in denial about my alopecia for about 9 years, and then once it started getting really bad I became very depressed. After going on medication for depression and anxiety, I realized that this disease was taking over my life. I decided that I wouldn't let it control me any longer, so I finally shaved my head and bought a wig. It was the best decision I've ever made in my life! After I shaved my head, a new and positive Natalie was reborn :) It's a tough decision, but if you get to the point where alopecia has control of your life, shaving your head and getting a wig will allow you to take back control! I went with a Freedom wig (it's a vacuum wig that suctions to your head), and I LOVE it! I worked with Karen Peterik out of Chicago (www.newlifehair.com). She is fabulous, and has become a sort of mentor for me as I continue to learn to live with alopecia. Let me know if you have any other questions, I would love to help :) And yes, I'll actually be coming back to WI this weekend to pick up my brand new Freedom wig! I'm flying in to Milwaukee tomorrow morning and then driving to Chicago to pick up the wig and get it cut and colored! Take care and talk to you soon!

Hello Ria-
Very sorry to hear that this condition is now back; I hope you have a strong relationship that will help soften the blow. My husband was very understanding and compassionate through the entire hair loss which made things much easier. I'm contacting you now because I live very close to Portage, being on the north side of Lake Mendota in Westport (just off HWY 19). Feel free to contact me at any time (and crying is part of the loss, just like when we lose a pet or family member or anyone else in our lives; our hair is a very significant part of us and we all have shed a lot of tears). Remember, the hair may still come back again. Hugs, Susan
