- Discovered alopecia areata when I was 3 by finding a little bald spot in my long mane of curls. The family practitioner told her not to worry, it would grow back. From age 9 to 11 I lost all the hair on my head. Walked around bald and proud until I was 16 and decided to wear a wig because I didn't want alopecia to be the first topic of conversation when meeting new people. Meanwhile I'm 32, have lost my eyebrows, still have my lashes and have very thin body hair that comes and goes. I consider myself and expert practitioner in wigs. Have made all the mistakes one can make and like the buffer they give do me to choose when to talk about my baldness. I also learned iweaeing a wig takes away some of the carefree mess I used to have, both from a physical aspect and emotionally. It's a 'big reveal' everytime I bring it up now.
Been to doctors and wig stores both in Europe and in the US due to my background and am available for exchange of experiences, thoughts and laughs.
