I am 47,mother of 3 daughters, Licensed Medical Aesthetician. I was diagnosed with Alopecia in 1981, although I had had it since 1978. Life as a child with baldness issues was very difficult, but I had a strong support system through family and I made peace with the condition in my early teens. I actually feel as if my Alopecia makes me distinctly "different" and I like that! I choose to live my life in wigs--I enjoy hair like an accessory! I am very open about my condition and I share the story with anyone that asks...Popeye said it best-- "I yam what I yam!!" :)
