- I'm a retired Air Force officer, and I'm currently a professional historian working for the Air Force. I have a 25 year old son who just graduated from college. I have a 12 year old and 13 year old foster sons, one of whom I am adopting. I've had alopecia my whole life. When I was a kid, it was areata, but over time it progressed to totalis and then universalis. It doesn't bother me at all...but it really did when I was a kid
