- I am a mother of 2 wonderful children. A boy, Travis, who is 9 and a girl, trystan, who is 7. My kids are my world and everyday they give me a reason to keep pushing. My son loves baseball and plays really well at it. My daughter is in gymnastics and is also a natural. My daughter and I were both blessed with alopecia but my son was not. I, however do not have it nearly as bad as my 7 year old daughter. My daughter has practically gone all bald. I know it's hard for her at school, although she will never show it, but she deals with this really well. She just gets tired of answering the same question, "why are you bald?". Finally a friend of mine said to her, from now on tell people.... "because I like it like this". I wish more people were aware of this condition because I think the more educated people are the likely they are to look at her weird or ask the question with concern. So this year it is a go of mine to get more people aware of the condition. Although I we have just seen a doctor recently who is 90% positive that he can give her back a full head of hair in 2 years or less, it will still be an uphill battle to keep it undercontrol.
