I have had AT since I was 2 years old and have worn wigs since age 9, though I've happily transitioned to scarf caps for Bikram Yoga (way too hot for a wig!) and the gym in the past year. I think I am coping well after more than 25 years with alopecia. I realize that the condition has changed me in some really positive ways so I'm grateful for that, but it is still a struggle, especially in dating and relationships with men. I work with adolescents in foster care, helping to connect them with jobs and internships. If anyone is looking for a wig like mine, I've gone to the same wig genius in NYC since I was 9.
