hello everyone my name is dee just came across this site and can't believe how many people there are in the same situation as me. iv had alopecia on and off for over ten years but in the last year i was away travellin australia and gradually lost every bit. iv also lost all my eyebrows and eyelashes. its been a massive pain in the ass as you all know!! been to every doctor under the sun but really nothing has worked!! recently some of my hair started to grow back but it is now falling out again. i dont feel sorry for myself as im not sick just been dealt a shitty card!! its tough to talk to with people as no one i know has gone through it and as great as people are, they will never really understand it. i feel like im loosing it a bit and i dont know maybe this is sort of a last resort, be great to hear from other people and hear your experiences, advice etc :) Dee

Thanks! I have a few different wigs. I get my human hair wigs here in Portland through Brenda Kay. They are wonderful! Then I have some synthetic ones which are great for travel (wash and wear) and going to the gym. The syn wigs have monofilament tops so your scalp shows through.
For eyelashes, I sometimes wear false ones. I have tips in my book on how to put them on so they stay, how to make them look natural, and also, if you are not wearing falsies, how to make up your eyes so they look like you have eyelashes.
I haven't had any treatments for years. I just gave up. It wasn't worth it for me. I'm fine the way it is -- I have adjusted and am happy. I'm sorry you are having a hard time. Are you wearing a wig? A good wig can make all the difference.
Hugs!
Hello and welcome, Dee!
I've had universalis for many years. Let me know if you need advice or support -- I've been through it all, even wrote a book about it called "If Your Hair Falls Out, Keep Dancing!"
