I am a widowed, retired professor of history and a writer, about to adopt a cat. I've always been a social justice activist. I live alone but am frequently in touch with my daughter Larisa, who teaches gender and technology at Temple University

For most of my life, I have had long dark curly hair. The rapid change over the past couple of years has been demoralizing.
