Well, it's been several weeks now since we identified that I'm Alopecian. I'm finding it increasingly difficult to hide the spots and seem to have some sparse grey hairs coming in where the spots are (although the spots continue to grow!?)

The summer was horrid. My condo flooded ($15,000 worth of damage and much arguing with the insurers), lost my uncle, found out they're checking me out for cervical cancer, alopecia, sprained my ankle, lost my grandfather ... and now struggling with the decision to shave my mellon.

My hair has always been my main source of physical pride. Right now, everything is turned upside down and i'm scared to make a decision to shave it. At the same time, I think it might be the perfect time to challenge the hair thing along with everything else. 'Sides, i photoshopped myself bald and liked it!!

So, with the wee grey hairs appearing I'm not sure I shouldn't stick it out a bit longer and see if things fill in ... :S

Thanks ladies, you're amazing.

Bogie,

I'm in Canada and what the government doesn't pay for will mostly be covered by my employer's benefits. I'm a lucky girl that way!

Thanks for your kind words, they're quite empowering as I hear them from more and more genuine and sweet ppl.

Hugs!

Sorry about all the sad events lately.
Why not just cut your hair short? I was saving what was left of my hair for my new "hair system" because they can clip it to your hair. When my wig finally arrived, I didn't have enoughhair left to attach it to so my hairdresser cut it short. She said itching from shaving would drive me crazy.
THAT was weird, having not much left but I like it better that the mess that was there before. I've had my wig for 10 days now and I like it but its still uncomfortable sometimes-itchy,hot. Everything takes some adjustment time.
All the best,
Nancy

wigs are hot/itchy
shaving is itchy/high maintenance
what hair is left must be kept long because the pony tail is the only way i can cover
have yet to go shopping for scarves (my fave option as it involves shopping, lol!)

i guess it's all just an individual decision ... but damn i'm glad i found this site so i can rant about whatever is frustrating!!

thanks so much, all!
