Couple weeks ago my mom had a lady that kept coming in to have her blood drawn over and over on her thyroid and then white blood cell count and etc so finally my mom asked why are we doing all this. She told my mom that she was losing her hair again and they want to see if its alopecia , My mom told her oh yea my grandson has that and started explaning trestin whole process to her and she said yea i went through the same things when i was in the 1st grade i had lost all my hair well her mom took her to a derm that specialized in alopecia and he had hre have a high diet in biotin and took biotin supplements and he had told them that something relating biotin defiquency and hair loss. So ever since she was in the 1st grade she had been taking them and she grew back her hair! well now she was pregnant and they didnt want her taking any extra stuff besides prenantals so she had stopped and she had started to lose her hair again.. i started my son on it soon as my mom had told me just the foods that are high in it like califlower and stuff and guess what trestin is getting hair all around the back of the crown of his head im so excited i think this should be something everyone with alopecia tries and it could be your cure...

Wow thanks for sharing that. I will be having cauliflower at lunchtime today. Excuse my ignorance but I have never heard of biotin, what is it, and do any other foods contain it? Can it be taken as a vitamin supplement, does anyone know if its available in the UK?

Thanks for sharing this info. I have been giving my daughter liquid biotin since June and she is growing her back now. But, she also is going through a treatment that I think is helping. Do you know what foods are high in Biotin. What are you giving Trestin? After how long of starting the biotin did you see his hair coming in? I just bought cod liver oil today because I heard that was really good to and did some research on it. I read that green tea is good for immune dysfunction and we will be having a class of that a day too..

I have just been out and got some Biotin tablets. I will let you know if there is any improvement for me.
Thanks again for sharing this information.
As a supermarket here in the UK says 'Every little helps'.
Thanks again.

Hey,

I am a little confused. What is Trestin and where can you get it. Biotin is a B vitamin? I will try anything at this point. Still have another two months to go before seeing the derm for the first time....unreal....

Great news though about your grandson have regrowth!

My dermatologist has told me to take 5000 (not a typo) mg of biotin a day! All I have noticed so far is that my nails are much stronger. But I am keeping my fingers crossed!

I'll check my bottle tonight but I'm sure I take 1 mg of Biotin a day and I think it's 333% USRDA

Okay,
I checked the bottle. Natures Bounty Biotin 1 mg tablets 333% USRDA.
Where do you get 5000mg? Are you sure it's not mcg's? That would be micrograms still that would be 5 of my tablets a day otherwise 5000 tablets a day!!!
