We have been pondering this situation for awhile as it is coming into summer here in New Zealand and Nicole will soon begin swimming at school.

She has just got her knew Freedom wig so that is all good but when her hair gets wet you will be able to see her lack of eyebrows. At the moment she wears false eyebrows to school which are great but you aren't supposed to swim in them.

We have bought numerous waterproof eyebrow pencils which kinda work. Nicole said she will draw them on and touch them up after swimming. I guess apart from tattooing them on that is all that she can do right?

Just wondering if anyone here had any other suggestions that we hadn't thought of yet.

Thanks Sharon

hello....yeah I would just go with the waterproof makeup for now..maybe get permanent when she gets older. She doesnt need a lot of liner to make it look like lashes...and you can kind of smudge the bottom to look like lower lashes.

hi, i use a dior waterproof pencil on my lower lid and it works so well. On top i use a mac waterproof liquid liner and that stays on like crazy. Have to use oil based makeup remover to get it off. Perfect for swimming in! Coms in brown colours as well as i guess because of your daughters age you wouldnt want something to dark.

Does people at her school know she has au?

I have a wig with a fringe and when i swim you can see my no eyebrows but i dont really mind that, she can always make her fringe messy on her forehead rather than sweep it backwards like most girls do with hair when wet. thats what i did when i was younger and didnt like people to know.

Thanks for that Fitzy I will hunt that down.............Can you by Mac in NZ?

Nicole went for her first swim today in her new wig and it got really matted and she was worried about people being able to see the cap.

No not many people know she has only shared her alopecia with a few people.

Thanks Sharon

oh know ne will be able to see the cap, it looks so natural. the only thing that can give you away is the line of where the cap meets the skull. I wonder why it got matted? mine never does that, maybe she should try it in a pony tail? if you cut whispy bits along the edges you can wear a pony and hide the wigs edge. message me on my page with your email and i will send you photos of how i have done mine.

yes you can buy mac in nz.
