So I often joke that my alopecia is a result of bad karma. "I must have been someone terrible in a past life.." But I don't really feel that way.

Now I'm starting to wonder, if maybe I really was a bad person! Yesterday afternoon a buzz started through the hospital I work at about money missing from bank accounts. The whole thing was very mysterious and there were no real details. One person heard $12,000 went missing in an hour, another heard $12,000 was missing from contracters alone.

Then someone started saying that it was from the bank machines here at work, and anyone who used them in the past two days should be checking for unusual activity. Now I don't usually even use the machines, I usually don't bring money or take money out as part of my diet scheme, haha, but OF COURSE the day before I'd slept in and had to drive to work - so i had to take out 20$ to pay for parking.. I decide to call my telephone banking just to be safe. Check my balance.

-$2.00

"Negative two dollars?!?!" I was totally floored. I felt sick and panicky and hot and cold and SHIT!!!

Turns out there was some mystery transaction of a $500 withdrawl.

I ended up on the phone for almost 3 hours between my bank and the 'risk management' people. After 4 customer service reps, 2 tellers at the actual bank and some serious daytime minutes later I'd managed to have a freeze plaved on my account and they assured me they were investigating the situation.

Still out $500 at this point..

6 hours after getting off the phone the bank calls to tell me that it was indeed a fraudulent withdrawl (duh) and that the money would be returned to me in the next 5 business days..?!?!

I still cant' believe someone would steal money from people at the hospital. I was lucky that I have more money, and savings and credit cards. I couldn't imagine what it would be like to rush out to visit someone ailing, with nothing but your plane ticket, and then someone steals all your money - that won't be returned for 5 business days. How fucking lazy and heartless do you have to be?!

And to make matters worse, my rent cheque bounced. So I had to go through this big process of trying to explain to my apartment office that I'd had money stolen, but had no way to prove it, because no one at the bank could write me a letter until the investigation is closed..-sigh-

But I got it all figured out.
And then i got drunk.
And went to the football game.

GO ESKIMOS!!

I have to say, I love how you handled it all at the end but I am sorry to hear about the money. Some people have quite some nerve, it's a wonder they get as far as they do in life. Banks are too powerful anyways - we should all go back to hiding money under our matresses and in our underwear drawers!
