This morning was my second appointment with my dermatologist. The first time I went I had one spot that was the size of a dollar coin and I was very frightened. The doctor wanted to give me a shot into my head but when I asked would they numb the area he said no thus I declined.I am TERRIFIED of needles and I do mean terrified. Why? Because my father was sick from my birth until I was 11 when he died and had to get blood drawn ALL the time. He talked about how painful it was after a while because he got it done so much his skin was so sensitive and his veins were so frail. I think of that anytime I see a needle and I panic. Anyways, I decided against the shot and asked for cream for now and then when I came back if my hair wasn't back I'd consider the shot. Well, it was now time for my second appointment and I not only still had the same spot (though some hair had grown back) I also had a smaller spot developing that needed attention. I get in there and I am called back as soon as I sit down (which I like, probably the only thing I like.) Well, I start to notice how old and dirty the carpet is. I noticed the nurse wasn't talking and looked like she had been taken out the early 90s and planted in the office. The doctor didn't remember me...nor where my spots were. He saw the small one, got the needle ready and said I had to get a shot. I explained I'm terrified of shots he said I had to "grow up." He proceeds to give me the shot then tells me to hold a cloth up to it because I was bleeding. He then walks over to the counter pulls out a tape recorder and begins explaining what he just did then yells: "See you in October." I said: "Excuse me, but I do have another spot, you know the original one I came in here for." He said oops like a child then gets another needle comes over and says ooo this one may hurt and jabs it in with no mercy then yanks it out and tells me to hold another cloth up there because I was bleeding again. I was mortified and by this time I was crying from anger. He then leaves and say now, I see you in October. Needless to say I will NOT be going back EVER. I already called another Dermatologist and will be seeing them in October. I refuse to be treated that way by anyone!!

I agree. Once a substitute derm. gave me waaaaaaay too many shots without mercy when my regular, kind, female dermatologist was on vacation, and I was in tears. I was a teen then, and didn't like the shots anyway...but his attitude stunk.
