I don't know what I am going to write but I felt inspired to write on this topic. President Gordon B. Hinckley of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saint's said, “Some of you may feel that you are not as attractive and beautiful and glamorous as you would like to be. Rise above any such feelings, cultivate the light you have within you, and it will shine through as a radiant expression that will be seen by others” (Ensign, May 1995, 99).
There are two paths you can take. You can continue not accepting yourself and being miserable. Or you can accept yourself and find happiness. The acceptance comes as you realize that your spirit is whole. It is complete, the same spirit you had before you were diagnosed with alopecia.
Being a friend to yourself means you like yourself. You’re happy with who you are. Feeling good about ourselves gives us confidence, self-reliance, and self-control. When we like ourselves, we know our worth. There is no room or need for selfishness.
One thing you can be sure of is that whenever you look at yourself in the mirror, the person who’s looking back will be you.
I have to live with myself, and so
I want to be fit for myself to know.
I want to go out with head erect;
I want to demand all men’s respect.
I never can hide myself from me;
I see what others may never see,
I can never fool myself, and so,
Whatever happens, I want to be
Self-respecting and conscience free.
(In Faust, Reach Up, 37.)
That's all I got.
