Now that my eyelashes, eyebrows, and body hair is all falling out, I have been experiencing severe itching, watery eyes, redness, burning skin and body pain. Has anyone out there experienced this? And if so, what has alleviated your symptoms? Has anyone seen any kind of specialist if they have had or have these symptoms. I am so miserable right now. Allergy pills do not help, I feel like I'm overdosing on benadryl. It's hard.
I've been to my primary physician, I'm a Medical Assistant at a clinic and surrounded by physicians all day, and they have no idea what to say about Alopecia. I understand why, it's just very frustrating If I hear one more person ask me if I'm stressed out, or say,it's just hair, no big deal, I think I'm going to lose it. Actually, I feel like I have already lost it!
I'm grateful for this source of support. Alopecia is a very lonely disease. I've been isolating myself so much. All I do is work, and then come home and hide myself away in my room.
Thank You for everyone's support!!!

I had the same thing happen to me when all my hair went. I was technically diagnosed with eczema but did feel very itchy all the time. Now I use aveeno body wash ( the kind that has oatmeal in it ) and it has helped a lot!! From my experience I feel it is just your body trying to get used to not havin hair so your skin is more sensitive. Mine got better with time and now I only have the itches once in a while.

hi christy, i am losing hair everywhere except my arms, it is accompanied by severe itching. when it itches, the hair is coming out. is that what you're experiencing? recently, my cheeks have become red and i feel burning on the back of my hands. i am going to see an allergist soon. i heard with aa there is a slight itch or tingling or bruising sensation but i have very bad itching. at first it was just the lashes, brows and scalp, but in the last year, my nose, vaginal area and legs itch profusely for a few minutes several times a day and the hair comes out right then when i itch or comes out shortly after.

Hi DMV. I am experiencing everything you just prescribed!!!
I'm thinking of going to a allergist to.
Someone told me I need to see a rheumatologist as well. I've also recently developed fibromyalgia too
It 's so frustrating!
No one seems to know what to do to help me.
People who think alopecia is a "vanity issue" don't understand the gravity of how it affects your mental health; it probably the most devastating thing that has ever happened.
Most of my "friends" day I'm just feeling sorry for myself. I'd like them to shave every hair on their body, and then tell me I am just throwing self pity parties!
So glad we have this forum. It really helps!

Hi Christy! Back in January, when all my hair started falling out, I decided to go see an allergist. I am a nurse and figured that the less inflammation in my body, the better. I had bad allergies for years. Each year, they would get worse. So, when I lost my eyelashes, eyebrows, and nose hair, I needed help with protecting myself from all the pollen that spring would bring. I am currently getting allergy shots. I can tell a difference from last year. The only downside is that you have to be consistent with the shots for a year. Then maintenance for two, even three years.
My head never itched when the hair fell out. But, my eyelashes and eyebrows were so itchy prior to losing them. Let me know what you find out.

Hi there,

I lost all of my hair within the last 2 years..just noticed no nose hairs over the last 2 months....worried because I have had many viruses in the last 6 weeks. I am taking supplements..not sure what else to do.

I was diagnosed with fibromyalgia in 2007. I was told that there is no connection to alopecia :(...
