Hi Everyone, I saw my new Dermatologist yesterday, I really liked her. She ordered a boat load of blood test, thyroid, ANA (autoimmune) CBC, the works, depending on the blood test results she may do a scalp biopsy.
Has anyone had one? If so what can I expect?
She also wrote out a RX for Betamethasone Valerate (the spell alert came on for that one, lol) lotion, twice a day.
If you have used this, how did it do for you?
I am getting to the point I'm really tired of trying lotions & potions that do not work. That is what is so frustrating about alopecia. I guess we have to try to be patient until our hair follicles decide it's time to WAKE UP.
Any information will be much appreciated.
Thanks much.

my dermotologist also sugested a biopsy but i am not having it but all i know about biopsy's is that they take a chunk of your scalp and send it to some labs for tests and you get a few stitches.if this isnt right im sorry but this is what my ddermotologist said it was

I had a scalp biopsy about 6 years ago. It wasnt a big deal at all. the only odd thing about it was that the Dr. took some skin that was sort of near my ear and I could hear everything she was doing. Dont worry I felt nothing. I think I got 2 stitches. and was out and about doing everyday activities that day. I dont think the biopsy is needed unless they think your hair loss is caused by something else. I found out later that the dermotologist I went to was really into biopsys and would do them often on her patients. oh well, it just proved that I have alopecia.
Do what you feel is needed. :o)

I made a decision early on not to line the dermatologist's pockets with my hard earned money. Hair seems to come and go with alopecia no matter what stop gap treatments are used, and I opted not to buy a ticket for that emotional roller coaster. It was healthier for me to skip the hype and go directly to acceptance and doing what I can where I am with what I have. So, I'm writing Boldly Bald Women and am focusing on blooming where I'm potted. Oh, yeah, and making kicky earrings in my spare time.
