I've decided to try a dairy and gluten free diet(or at least cut them out considerably). I'm a big believer that your diet has a lot to do with the way your body reacts to an already existing problem. I'm mostly trying to cut out inflammatories because even before AA appeared in my life I've always had skin problems (rashes, itchiness, dryness) that I believe are connected to my diet. If it doesn't help my AA at least I'll be healthier! My question is for anyone who has tried a diet like this or is on a diet like this. So far the only thing I've found that I can eat is Quinoa and veggies. lol. Are there cookbooks you recommend, websites, anything? Thanks!

Hi Katelyn

I have been seeing a naturopath and she is big on cutting out gluten and sugars. I am learning that I need to look after my gut. Juicing has also been recommended, I also suffer from ezcema so it's harder to manage because even certain vegetables can trigger off the ezcema. I do find it hard to stick to and over the festive season I let it all go and I am paying for it. Major ezcema break out on my arms eating too much dairy eg ice cream, (it's been super hot over here). So I am back on it. The more I read the more I learn about inflammation and how much it can lead to chronic diseases. I was listening to a podcast recently regarding this from a website "Underground Wellness"
I'm not if I am allowed to post on here. If someone can tell I can I will post ( I might have even found from this site, I can't remember).

You can have lots of coconut products. Coconut milk has 50% more calcium than cows milk. I'm on an anti inflammatory diet called repairvite. It's super strict but I'm feeling good on it. It hasn't helped my hair to stop falling out but I'm hoping.

I just saw this article about an anti-inflammatory diet and how it's helped with alopecia.

Hope this is helpful!

I think Tracey made some GREAT points, if i had insurance or was in a better spot financially then thats what I would do! Food sensitivity test and some extensive blood work...heal from the inside instead of throwing shots and creams at the symptoms. We have to start with the root of the problem!Check out my blog on my G/f anti inflammatory diet....may be useful, I have experienced great results from the switch! good luck

Hey! I've been gluten free for 5 weeks now and I think that's the reason I have 3cm hair growing in the front of my head. Im going to continue eating gluten free, because I feel like it's really helping my hair grow :)
