Just want to share with you and those considering it, I found the information about the treatment is somehow limited to its action. So I want to share with you about the journey I have during the last 8 months...well, I'm still on it.
I found this treatment last year, and the concept or the theory behind is quite understandable. Before I heard of the treatment, I usually find some tiny hairs grow around inflammed area. That the concept of DCP is actually induce a continuous inflammatory respond on the scalp, so pull the attack away from the hair follicles.
while according to the research I've read, the hair follicles in AA are not dead, but sleeping only. Say, there are 4 stages of hair growth, the final stage is pigmentation. However, AA attack hair follicles, which resulted a stop at the stage 3. That's why the hair may still able to grow back after 20 or 30 years. DCP researhes have been done on numerous people from less than 10 to 50+, the result is vary, about 20 to 60 % of successful rate, which depends on how the author define and interpret their results.

Me, have the treatment from august last year on both of my scalp and eyebrows, the eyebrows treatment is quite experimental I think. I didn't develop much itchness until the 3rd time, there are lymph nodes, thou. In the first 3 months, the side effects are mainly, redness, itchness, and lymph nodes around the neck region. Some black hair can been observed after 3 months, however, they didn't last which disappeared after 3 weeks), and the DCP concentration has been reached to its maxium, 2%. The side effect become more and more severe, big blisters over the head, and some around my forehead. This has taken me away from doctor's advice-apply regro 5% regularly. Those side effects last around a month, and the progress was "nothing". I thought the treatment may not work on me.
As those severe side effects have gone, and left only some itchness, I started to put on regro again. Then, at the seventh month, I can see some black spots on the scalp and my eyebrows. From my experience, I believe the treatment needs compliance a lot. Compliance to stand with the side effects, too.

Apart from the what we know, I found something interesting after I have DCP treatment, but it could be just coincident. DCP supposed to work on the scalp only, so those side effects are mainly skin problems. But I have constipation, night cough and pimples, too. That means, my whole body is responding to the reaction. What I want to say is the body may be giving you some cues. My hypothesis is, dematitis or skin inflammation distracted the lymphocyte's attack, which allow the hair growth. However, whether the hair will grow eventually is depends on our own health.

In Chinese medicine, I am not an expert. But people in our culture believes our body can be classified into different "base" e.g. hot or cold, like yin yang. If a balance status cannot be reached, we will get sick. And those symptoms like constipation and ances mean the body has accumulate too much "hot air" which need to be cool down. So I started to take herbal drink (which is only commercial, whatever I can buy on the street) soon after the treatment commenced. At the beginning, I didn't take it on purpose, I just wanted to reduce those unrelated side effects. Until I noticed my hair start to fall when I stopped drinking herbal tea.

I didn't mean chinese medicine is useful. But it is good to "hear" what your body wants to tell you during the treatment. Alopecia is an auto-immune disease, immunity is a systemic reaction, may it presents obviously on the scalp, observe any bodily change would be good.
