Dee Dee Bridgewater - Grammy winning and bald!

I just saw an article in my local San Diego newspaper about a jazz singer, and recent Grammy winner, Dee Dee Bridgewater, and the accompanying photo shows a beautiful bald woman! (And, wonderfully, the article didn't say a word about her being bald!) I immediately looked her up online and found this one of many YouTubes:

And here's her website with lots of photos showing her bald:

I am completely out of touch with current music, and didn't watch the Grammys. I've never heard of this gal, but it appears she's been publicly bald for quite awhile. Does anyone know whether she has alopecia or, like another popular singer, is shaving her head and just rocking the look?

We are SO trendy!!!

After posting this, I found a couple of articles about her online where she talks about shaving her head because she's tired of messing with wigs and with her hair. It appears she doesn't have AA. Isn't it great, though, to see such a visible role model of bald as a fashionable and beautiful option for women!?

I just got a local newspaper this afternoon and it has a big color advertisement for her show this Saturday - and she's gorgeous and bald. I wish I could go, but I have something else. Darn!

She's great. One of the few that actually deserve to win awards these days.

Hey Mary / Lili

Have you heard of Rokia Traore?

She's only occasianally bald, but was when we saw her in London a couple of years ago:)
