I was diagnosed with alopecia areata last February. All started with a patch and eventually I had around 7 patches.I had a lot, really a loooot of hair so even I had so many patches it was not visible.I started to use corticoid creams and although there was some growth it was really slow.I decided to have the cortisone injection and after two doses the hair start to grew really quickly.I believe the trigger was stress so I am trying to control that.At the moment most patches are completely covered :)

this is such good news Sandra - I was just diagnosed last week  - and I'm still in freaking out , but in a calm way, stage. My style is to be prepared for the worst that could happen - and stress is very much the factor in my case. I just cannot believe I didn't notice this huge patch of hair gone behind my ear - but I have massive and fuzzy hair. Joining this blog will help I hope.

Keeping calm it's very importante.More patches will appear and you need to think that they all might growth back with time. it took me more than 6 months to have them all covered, and I still need to pay attention to my hair in case another turns up. There will be days when it is very difficult to keep calm and that it's fine, but then we need to refocus and calm down. Freaking out it will only make it worst... In the end it is only hair and it does not affect our health in any other way :)
