Do you think it is easier to get a job if you wear a wig to an interview? (Bald vs. Wig)

Hi Everybody!!!,

I was just wondering if there's anyone in the Hotel and Tourism / Hospitality Management field with AU and with some much needed advise. I've been bald a very long time now , finally at the age of 26 I am at a point where I do not feel like wearing hair but I'm scared that I will not be able to be hired because I may be viewed as sick or strange looking. Anyone else with experiences in the work force or some advice for me??

hi, i would say do the one that you feel more compatible with.

Also most professional companies love diversity so it could work to your advantage. You could say your alopecia has helped you understand people better which helps you notice if an employee is having difficulties, which in turn strengthens your status as a manger as you are more able to look after your team.

sorry for waffle dot.com its the youth and community worker in me! lol

it could be to do with the way you feel with out a wig? i know it affects me when i dont wear a hat.

me with hair i am 100% me (was)

Me wearing a hat i act 40% like me

without one im almost a mute and act about 10% like myself

But if your happy with going bald then i think it could work, i mean if you can do the job better thats all they want really, profit.

Of course depending on which kind of job it is and maybe the odd arss hole.

I would suggest doing what you feel comfortable doing...but maybe the wig is a good idea or wear a beautiful scarf or hat....just be yourself and be honest with the interviewers...most people tend to understand. Just explain to them that alepecia does not affect your work ethics. :)

Thank you everybody, I'm still not sure what to do, part of me wants to be that traditional pretty girl and that part of me is more comfortable wearing a wig, but there's a bigger part of me that accepts my alopecia and acknowledges that before the world can see us as beautiful as we are, I must first expose my alopecia and everything it is to me to the world. I'm so confused, another part of me wants to lock down a job so I can continue to support my children and work towards my goals. it does help to hear from everyone though.
