My mom has had alopecia for the past year and her hair is now starting to grow in. Her only problem is that it's growing in grey, she by no means wants to be picky as any hair is hair to her now, however, she is not ready to face the signs of aging. We are trying to explore our options, and were wondering if dying the hair would make it fall out again or what? We really have no idea and neither does her doctor so any help is greatly appreciated!

I just asked this question to my doctor and they told me that dying is ok as long as the solution is 20% peroxide or less. I don't know if you mom has dark or light hair, but it is probably better if you go darker because you don't need as much peroxide. I do think you also feel a lot better when you get your hair done too. That's my opinion! Hope that helps! Melissa

I had the same problem...grey roots! Waited almost 1 year before coloring for fear of more hair loss. About 2 months ago my niece was killed in a car accident. Decided this was the time to have my hair colored. It has been 2 months since and no new hair loss! Planing on having my hair colored again this week. I still have some bald spots, but at least I feel good about the way the rest of my hair look! So, I guess I would tell your Mom to go for it! Hope this helps you out!
