Hi there friends in Alopecia World. Just wondering if there is anyone out there who has had their hair grow back after A.U. I'm kind of resigned to the fact that this is it, but guess there's still a glimmer of hope.
To anyone considering getting eyebrows tattoed, I recommend it. Had mine done while on holiday in Phuket and although not a pleasant sensation, I'm thrilled with results. Makes my face look like more than just a blank canvas! Now I only have to add eyeliner. Take care and keep smiling.

Alopecia is a funny thing cause it does whatever it wants. I myself haven't heard of anyone getting their hair back after having AU for an extensive time and if they do it usually stays patchy, not complete regrowth. The research I've looked into shows that 15 years seems to be an average time for people to deal with alopecia before their hair regrows but I'm going on over 30 years now so I wonder how accurate these studies are. I'm glad you enjoy your eyebrows though :)

I have AU and my hair has not grown fully back in atleast 5 years. Prior to that, I would lose my hair for 6 months and then have my hair totally back for 6 months. I have had Alopecia for many years, starting with just losing quarter size patches of hair. It began around a year after my oldest daughter was born, and she will be 24 yrs old in February. So, long story short, my Alopecia just seemed to progress over the years.

I have just recently lost my eyebrows - they would get thin in the past, but now I haven't had them for @ 6mos. I am getting frustrated with trying to draw them on my face every morning before work! I saw a thing on line about a woman that has Alopecia and had eyebrows tattoed and I want to seriously look into it. Thanks for the positive feed back about the eyebrows thing.

Thanks for your comment. My AU was sudden, lost everything within a month. Was me that had eyebrows tattooed, was about NZ$150, took about 30 minutes, and makes such a difference, not just physically but psychologically as well. Too scared to get eyeliner tattoo, but thats easy enough to draw on. Good luck.

I have had AU for 6 years...and about 3 months ago I got what my daughter affectionatly calls "peach hair". It is now about an inch long, tho I am seeing the AA patterns re-evolving, but hey...its hair all the same!

Hi Trish, enjoy your peach "fuzz". I'm hoping for a full head of hair by my sons wedding in Feb, haha. Think it might be the wig, don't want to be the centre of attention in the wedding photos with a shiny bald head!
