So Yesterday, June 1st right before leaving out to work., I decided to let my mom shave my head. I've had alopecia since I was a kid, maybe 10 or 11, well at least that's when it was brought to my attention most (kids like to tease). Went to the doctor and was diagnosed, of course they tell you to switch shampoo and use THEIR preferred kind and it didn't work. Dermatologist told me to use some silly cream that literally chemically burns your scalp off, turns it purple and its suppose to let a new layer of skin grow for "new hair follicles". Yeah no that didn't work either, at least the hair growing part didn't but I sure did have a burnt scalp and the skin peeling and flakes all over the bed, UGH! Tried all kinds of oils to sooth my poor scalp, mixed oils and finally gave up on that.Other than that, I've tried shampoos, conditioners, medications, herbs, steroid shots, creams, etc. NOTHING WORKS! So I finally stopped going to the dermatologist about 4 yrs ago and over the past 2 yrs my hair has progressively gotten thinner and thinner. So before I let alopecia completely take over my hair and life, I decided to have it cut. It's gone now and it's wasn't because of alopecia, it was a choice and I like the idea of being able to say that I chose to shave my head, and that's how it will be until God says otherwise. It feels pretty good actually. Not depressed or anything about it. It's going to be covered by a wig anyways and maybe now, I can get a vacuum wig which is pretty exciting. So I can't wait to open this new chapter in my life hair free! Brighter days ahead! :) *all smiles*

Congrats on your bold and empowering move! I'd like to suggest you forego the wig all together and just go bald.
