Hello all my bald and beautiful people! I just wanted to ask if any of you know of any great and inexpensive products to use on your head that help prevent sun damage, dandruff and dryness? I use olive oil hair lotion but not sure if that is best? Also, what is a great way to shave your head? I have clippers and I shave mine myself but it doesn't even out the shiny bald areas...I am thinking about going shiny bald and am not feeling the whole razor idea...but a girls gotta do what a girls gotta do, I guess, lol :) Thoughts??

I use Lubriderm 15 for daily moisturinzing and sun protection, and put a higher SPF on if I'm going to be outside bald for more than just a few minutes.

When I still had patches of hair stubble (all gone for 3 years), I just used a plain two-blade razor with shaving gel (same thing I used to use on my (previously) hairy legs. I shaved my head in the shower, by TOUCH, just running one hand back over my scalp while using the razor in the other: first the razor, then the other hand to feel for any stubble. I got very quick at it, and had total smoothness. Have you joined the AW Group "Sisterhood of Women Who Shaved Their Heads"? Great group, lots of tips and support. Good luck.

To get a very close shave look for a product called Head Blade. They actually sell a product at is supposed to decrease the shine. I used the blade back when I still needed to shave. I never used the skin care products. I use a high SPF sunblock everyday during the spring and summer, I burn easily. I use Cetaphil products for cleaning and moisturizing.

Co-sign on the HeadBlade. For cleansing, moisturizing and sun protection, I typically use the same stuff that I use on my face.

To stay inexpensive though, you can't really go wrong with castile soap and some sort of veggie oil such as coconut, jojoba, olive, almond, etc.

The head blade is fantastic and beats using a razor hands down. It's the smoothest shave ever!

I found a baby lotion (in the baby dept @ Target) Calendula lotion - it is great and it has sunscreen.
