I was reading the Jewish Chronicle the other day and there was an article about a man named: Philip Levine. Since going bald he decided to use his head as a canvas for art. I really like this idea! He has a couple of websites, so check them out:

I like the Star Trek reference, too, Devin. This was used in ad campaigns for the show. I remember seeing a big billboard in LA at the time Next Generation was on the air. It featured a photo of Patrick Stewart and the words "To Baldly Go...."

Of course, as a woman, I'd use "To baldly go where no one has gone before" (which is like the opening of Next Generation, gender-neutral). ( ;-)

I spoke to Philip and am going to his exhibition next week.
I've offered to be a canvas for any future projects as long as have no needles stuck in my head!
His photographer is also doing the photographs for a project for Alopecia UK

Kathryn - Ohhh!! I read about the photographer on AUK, but didn't realise they are linked. I can't wait to see if you get your head painted. How exciting.

This week I went to see the photographic show being put on by Phiip, it was amazing.
The photographer Daniel Regan is already working with Alopecia UK on a photographic project. I also met Kat, the artist - she asked when she could do my head! I think I'll go for it - we just need to come up with a design. Philip comes up with his designs for Kat to create.
People say they find my attitude refreshing - I'm just taking advantage of a situation. I would never have shaved my head to have it done but as there is no hair - why not?
Check out Philip's website www.headism.co.uk

A friend painted some stuff on my head not so long back - thank god they were flowers.... you've not got a clue what they're doing at the time!!! They got some interesting reactions at work.... :)

Anyway, I've added the photos to my profile pix if you fancy a laugh :)

Kathryn - that's really cool that you get to have your head painted. Coming up with a design is the challenging part I would imagine. I would take advantage of that situation too. Can't wait to see some pics when you get it done.

Norm - I am just going to check your page out now. Wow it looks great... did your friend use special paints?

Water-based acrylics, apparently.... which meant that they washed off easily. Could be good or bad, depending on how good the art is! :)
Glad you liked 'em, tho' :)
