Herbal and natural treatment success stories?

I have had alopecia areata for about 6 years now and had lost most of the hair on my head, but am at the stage now where i have several patches of dark hair, several patches of white fuzzy hair and only a couple with no hair. This gives me hope but i want more progress and am determined to make this happen.
I am not interested in steroid injections anymore or chemical medications so I am starting to try different herbal and natural remedies.
I want to hear your success (or failure) stories. Tell me what remedies have helped you and what remedies did nothing.
Right now I am taking silica gel, using essential oils for shampoo and massage, drinking kombucha tea and a couple other things here and there.
I'm starting to get the feeling that applying things topically as well as taking things internally are part of the trick..thoughts?
Thank you! <3

Thank you Cheri I feel better already ;) My hair fell out after never having had an issue before just as I was diagnosed with Crohns/UC in 2007 but never had an issue before. The AU started Feb 2011 and all out by May 2011, many of my docs feel medication triggered it as the infusions are tough and I was allergic to them and got brain lesions (all this around the same time my hair started to fall out) and 6MP is a cancer drug and I took that as well. I no longer have a large intestine (removed in an emergency type surgery Sept 2011 and no more meds so this is the time to give this a try. The other one I looked into was out of Israel called Hair Up. I think the 300 dollars is an investment I had to make, I needed to give this a shot. Thanks for contacting them that was great, I will let you know how it goes. =)

KimF4L, I know it's been a while since your last post, but did Dr. Shah work for you?

Hi, it's me again!

It's been a few years since i started this post, and i am still dealing with my alopecia. However, i have no completely bald spots and the hair has ceased to actually fall out, and it is about half and half dark normal hair, and fuzzy white short hair.

I am considering beginning the herbal treatment with Dr. Rohit Shah from India. I was wondering if any of you who said you were also starting the treatment had had any success with it? Would love to hear how you are doing years later.

I noticed in one comment someone said that it would be cheaper to simply buy the oils and herbs from a healthfood store. This is probably true, however, i think that using the correct proportions in these herbs is probably very important, and having someone like Dr. Shah as a guide, who knows what they are talking about is also probably very encouraging.

I have a lot of hope that my hair will grow back since there is no more falling out and lots of white fuzzy hair, but I also know that i have trouble sticking with a treatment, and it is hard for me to incorporate it into my routine everyday. But i want to try because i believe its the only way i will see results.

Thanks for your answer Kim, im glad to know that you have had some improvement, i wish you the best!

I have now looked into Hair Essentials. I am somewhat torn between Dr Shah and Hair Essentials. They are quite differnet in that Dr Shah's is only topical, and Hair Essentials is internal. Dr Shah's is also a bit more expensive with no money guraranteed.

Since my herbalist is the mind that my condition is very much to do with deficiencies in my body, I feel that perhaps if I take the internal herbs from Hair Essentials, and either buy or make a hair growth oil, this could help?

I have started rubbing an oil I made into my bald patches, It contains coconut oil, neem oil and essential oils. I've heard that all these things can help with hair loss. I really would like to find some pure Amla oil as i hear that it can do wonders for alopecia. Has anyone been able to find pure amla oil?

that's interesting that it still kept falling out but kept growing in fast.

i think i am going to try the hair essentials! alot of the ingredients in it are already ones that my herbalist has suggested i take, and i like how they sort of mix western, indian and chinese medicine to create this formula.

also, the fact that i struggle with several other ailments physically (eczema, insomnia, low blood sugar and dizziness, fatigue) and i believe its all connected and the healthier i become the healthier my hair will (hopefully)  become!

im going to order this tomomorrow when my pay cheque comes in.

will give updates! thanks everyone for the support.

Hi, i have an update.

I have ordered hair essentials, (yesterday actually) and it should arrive tomorrow! I am really excited.

I have never truly stuck with a treatment, and I am putting all my good energy and thoughts into hoping this works.

I have also made a hair and scalp oil out of neem oil, coconut oil and essential oils that can help promote growth and circulation. I massage it into my head everynight. I LOVE the smell of it. Neem can be very unpleasant on its own but i actually love the smell of it when its mixed with coconut oil.

I will give updates on my progress as i start the hair essentials treatment!

And yes stacy, i got the promo hehee ;) thanks
